April 2016 blog updates and monthly goals

Blog updates

Unlike the past few months, I don’t have any “major blog news” to share with you – but that’s okay!  This past month we did the Pixar movie tournament, which was really a fun event – and Toy Story ended up the winner!  I feel like I put up some good content this month that I’m happy with.

Unfortunately, pageviews continue to go down.  I’ve noticed a lot fewer views coming in from Pinterest, which is usually my main source of traffic.  Some bloggers have speculated this is due to a change in Pinterest algorithms leading to our content not being seen as much.  Others argue that this is just the natural way of things – people are on Pinterest a lot more in January and February when they are excited about the new year, and then it drifts off.  Either way, I’m at least miles ahead from my stats from March 2015 so I’ll take it.

March goals

Let’s see how I did on the goals I set for March…

  • Update old blog images for Pinterest ( got to a couple more but still have a ton to do!)
  • Finish editing my e-book (no, I was so bad at this.  I’m only up to about page 15 out of 80.)
  • Add popular posts to my sidebar (nope, didn’t touch it)
  • Reach 900 Twitter followers  (so close!  I’m at 875)
  • Reach 1,500 Pinterest followers  (exceeded it – in fact, I’m over 1600 now!)
  • Offer another freebie to my newsletter subscribers  (yes – just got it out this past week – it’s the Epcot restaurant checklist!)
  • Complete the 21 day fix (just purchased it today!)  (I did it, and I stuck to it!  I lost 5 pounds, feel great, and most importantly can really see a difference.)
  • Read at least 4 books  (yes, just barely got 4 in!  And one I read most of in February but finished it in March, but I’ll still count it!)
  • Memorize the script for Anything Goes  (I’ve memorized my lines like a boss.  Now I just need to work on feeling more confident with my singing on stage!)
  • Train for the Hershey 10k – run at least 3x a week  (I didn’t run 3x a week but I did stay in shape with the 21 day fix which I think helped with my running!)

April blog goals

  • FINISH EDITING E-BOOK (all caps because I really need to make this a priority!)
  • add popular posts to side bar
  • Reach 2,000 Pinterest followers
  • Reach 825 instagram followers
  • Do at least one collaboration post with a fellow blogger

April personal goals

  • Successfully perform my role in Anything Goes – with confidence!
  • Read at least 4 books
  • Run outside 3x a week
  • Audition for my next play (the musical Catch me if you Can)
  • Organize my desk/work area

What are you planning to do in the month of April?

Seems like you’ve done well with regards to your goals for the past month! And don’t worry about the book, you’ll get there this time! 🙂 I’m curious about this collaboration with a fellow blogger, what do you have in mind for that? Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if I’m a match for it! 🙂

Yes! I don’t have anything in particular in mind, just trying to work with other bloggers. I’ll send you an email and hopefully we can figure something out!

Awesome job on your goals. How was the 21 day fix? I have so many pins to re-do, I don’t even want to think about it. Ugh.

I actually really liked the 21 day fix! It worked muscles I didn’t work otherwise and I got in much better eating habits. Aside from losing 5 pounds I also lost about 2 inches from my waist which is pretty cool.

That’s awesome that you lost 5 lbs from the 21 day fix! I have been trying to update old blog images for pinterest. It has been a slow process. I have been wanting to read books but have yet to finish any. I started two and then got to busy to finish them. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish this month!

Thanks! Yeah, I’m in the middle of about 3 books right now that I’m hoping to finish by the end of the month. It’s so hard to find time!
