Port Orleans French Quarter room tour

Last updated June 12, 2025 by Becky 2 Comments

Take a look inside a Port Orleans French Quarter room:

Port Orleans French Quarter room - Disney in your Day

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Disney moderate resorts. Port Orleans French Quarter might be the one I’ve stayed at the least, though. I’ve typically favored Riverside, but have now stayed at French Quarter twice – and it’s really growing on me!

Port Orleans French Quarter

One of the things French Quarter is known for (especially among the moderate resorts) is that it’s smaller, more compact size. It’s super easy to get around and very walkable. We were in room 7101 in building 7. This is quite possibly one of the furthest out rooms in the entire resort – but we still only had about a 5 minute walk to the lobby, buses, or pool area.

A quick thing to note – the rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter have recently been refurbished. The room layout and resort layout are the same, but some of the details and decor have changed. Alas, I had already written this post before the changes had been made. Hopefully I can stay back there again soon in the future and update things here!

The room basics

As a moderate resort, the rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter are a bit bigger than the value resorts. They’re 314 square feet, which is a much more comfortable size when you’re sharing a room with family or friends. You have the main room area with 2 queen beds, as well as a table and two chairs plus the TV and drawers.

Unlike some of the other moderate resorts, this one does not have a pull-down bed so it can only sleep up to 4 people.

Inside the dresser and below the TV you have a mini fridge, and on top is a coffee maker for your basics.

A bench and coat hooks are to the right of the TV.

From there you head to the bathroom area, which has the sinks separate from the toilet/shower. So there’s a decently sized place with the sinks and a small bathroom with a door.

This room was located directly next to the stairs on the first floor and faced a parking lot. There was still some pretty greenery though! Since it was a corner room we actually had two windows, which let in a little more natural light.

Beds

The standard rooms here have 2 queen beds, which are comfy enough. I don’t typically have any issues with any of the beds or mattresses at Disney though.

Bathroom

I like the sink setup in the moderate resorts. You have two sinks plus some counterspace located in an alcove just outside of the bathroom itself. That way people can use the sinks and mirrors while getting ready if someone else is showering or using the toilet.

You’ll also find a curtain you can pull closed between the bathroom area and the main room. There’s a bar off to the side with hangers for clothing as well.

The bathroom itself is pretty typical and about what you’d expect. There’s a toilet plus a shower/tub combo with shower curtain.

2025 updates

I’m a day late and a dollar short with this room tour, because Disney recently updated the rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter. (In fact, we saw the construction in other sections of the resort during our stay).

While the basics of the room are still the same, the themeing has gotten an upgrade (more on that below) and there are a few minor changes in design. I’ll do my best to outline the changes below.

Instead of two chairs and a table, there is one longer cushioned bench with the table. The dresser is extended (so where there used to be a bench and hooks, there’s more space on top of the dresser and storage). This gives the coffee maker its own little area which is nice.

In the bathroom area, there is a sliding door instead of a curtain. The biggest change is that a lot of rooms now have a walk-in shower only (not a tub combo). My understanding is that some rooms still do have a bathtub, and you can request it, but that’s not guaranteed.

Themeing

The original themeing of the room was fairly subtle, with muted colors. There were some paintings of New Orleans, and the fleur de lys accent appeared throughout. I particularly liked the shower curtain, which had a subtle nod to the Princess and the Frog.

Disney has now leaned into the Princess and the Frog/Mardi Gras themeing more, which I personally appreciate. The newer rooms look much more colorful, with light blue, orange, and green. There are several spots with Princess and the Frog artwork.

Overall thoughts on our Port Orleans French Quarter room

I quite liked staying at Port Orleans French Quarter, and I like having a bit more space than a standard room at a value resort. While the 5th bed doesn’t make a difference for me, I do think the fact that its lacking here can be a bummer for families.

Disney resorts

I’m hoping to stay here again sometime soon for the new Princess and the Frog themeing – it’s one of my favorite movies! And having a more compact resort is nice. It’s good to know that no matter which room you get, it won’t be too bad of a walk.

I’ve stayed at Riverside twice and find the bus situation borderline untenable. I’d be up for trying French Quarter, though!

Not my problem, but I find it odd that Disney is doing away with bathtubs. Aren’t baths big with kids?

I’m pretty sure you can’t shower tiny children? At least not easily? I mean, it’s hard to imagine haha.
