Glass Slipper Challenge training: Week 10

Last updated December 26, 2015 by Becky 10 Comments

week 10

Happy holidays to everyone!  Not surprisingly this week was pretty busy for me, but I still managed to get 3 runs in (it was supposed to be 4, but this week that definitely wasn’t happening!  So I cut out the 2 mile run).  I couldn’t pass up this warmer weather!

week 10 mon

On Monday I stopped at Valley Forge for a run after work.  Because of the way the hills are the second half was actually faster than the first half of this run.  It was a good one!

week 10 tues

Tuesday I did another short run around my home.  The 10:45 pace was actually better than I was expecting because it was my third day running in a row (Sunday I had done my 7 mile run).  So I was definitely feeling it in my legs by this point!

week 10 thurs

I knew I had to get my long run in at some point, and with the weather around 70 degrees on Thursday I went for a Christmas Eve morning run.  Still a little sore but I actually felt pretty good about finishing this one.  And then I could relax and enjoy the holiday!

Of course, I got sick right after that with some sort of head cold so I’ve spent a couple of days resting as much as possible.  I’m hoping to be able to feel strong enough to run again on Monday, but I’ll enjoy the break now while I can!

Running has never really clicked for me but I admire the dedication training for a marathon requires. Are you running at Disney? I’m sure that will be a lot of fun.

Yes, I’ll be running the Princess Half Marathon in February! I’m looking forward to it – running in Disney is so much better than running anywhere else 😉

Thanks so much Shann 🙂 Feeling mostly better today with just a little bit of congestion so hopefully that will clear up soon!

I really want to do a Disney run one day, but I gave up coaching track to be with my girls, and so I don’t run at all. I keep seeing your posts about training, and know I will do it one day.

I am sure that you can! Disney races are relatively low pressure so I bet you can handle it.

Congratulations on a successful running week, despite the holidays, which a lot of people use as an excuse. I just started back running – I’m not a serious runner but I would love to do a Disney 5k one day if they have runs that short.

Thank you so much Allison! That’s great that you’ve started running again! Disney does do 5k’s – I believe every race weekend that has a “bigger” race like a half marathon also has a 5k. I would definitely try one if I were you!

I’m not a huge runner, but have always wanted to run a full marathon! Good luck on your training!
