Disney in your Day readers have been voting for their favorite Marvel superheroes on both the blog and on instagram throughout the month of March and early April. Now it’s finally time to announce the ultimate winner of our tournament! Our final two were both strong contenders, and it was a close one.
We started with 32 different characters in 4 different categories. Once we got to our final 4 we learned which ones were the favorites in each category. I think these are all pretty good picks:
The Early Avengers: Captain America
TV Superheroes: Captain Carter
The Later Avengers: Black Panther (T’Challa)
Other Marvel Superheroes: Black Panther (Shuri)
That led us into the interesting match-ups of Captain America vs. Captain Carter, and T’Challa vs. Shuri. Not surprisingly our final two left us with Captain America vs. Black Panther.
Two powerful picks, and while I had a suspicion about who would win, I still thought it would be a good match-up. And it was! Captain America is a very popular Marvel superhero from the beginning, but the first Black Panther movie made a big impact.
And the votes weren’t all that far apart! Our ultimate winner ended up with around 63% of the votes, while the other at about 37%. While that’s close to being 2/3 of the votes, it still wasn’t a complete runaway, which I think it could have been.
So which of these two Marvel superheroes was the favorite amongst Disney in your Day readers?
And the winner is…
Captain America!
Cap is one of my personal favorite superheroes, so I can’t say I’m disappointed in this outcome. I didn’t think it would end with Captain America vs. Black Panther, but I think that was a pretty exciting match-up. This might be the first time my own favorite has won the tournament!
I really did think we’d see a few others in the final 2, or at least the final 4. Iron Man and Spider-Man are both ones who I thought would be here at the end. Iron Man was close – it was only because Captain America beat him by around 2 votes in a earlier round.
But the real question is – what do you think? Are you happy Captain America won, or do you wish it was someone else?
And hey – it’s never too early to start thinking about next year! Share your ideas for future tournament topics below!
