What’s in my Disney bag?

When I go to Disney, I like to be prepared – but I also don’t want to carry around so much stuff that I get tired of it by the end of the day.  I used to carry a backpack, but I’ve now managed to get my stuff down into a Vera Bradley hipster.  So that’s my Disney parks bag, and here’s what you can find inside:

Camera – I love photography and taking pictures.  Sometimes I’ll bring my bigger DSLR camera into the parks (it has its own bag), but whether or not I have that one I always have my small digital point and shoot.  It’s a Canon DMC-FH25, and I’m really happy with it – it’s small and takes really nice quality pictures.

Tylenol – I am prone to headaches, so I always bring a small container of painkillers in case I need them.

Sunglasses – The Florida sun is bright, and my eyes are sensitive!  Sunglasses are necessary.

Water bottle – It’s really important to stay hydrated out in the heat, as I learned one time when I got severely dehydrated and sick.  That was an awful way to spend a day at Disney, so now I always carry water with me.  The bottle fits in the Vera Bradley hipster.  I bring my own because it’s so much cheaper, though you can buy it in the parks as well.

Wallet – because I like to have money to buy things.  And my ID and all that.  It’s easier to me to keep everything organized in my wallet.

Light sweater – I know, a sweater in Florida?  Yes, even in the summer.  Although it might be 95 degrees outside, I’ve found that for some reason people in Florida think it’s a good idea to compensate for this by making it about 50 degrees inside.  So when I go to a restaurant to eat in shorts and a tank top I’m usually freezing, and happy to have a sweater around.  This one is light and small so it folds up easily and fits in my bag.

Tables in Wonderland/AP discount card – Tables in Wonderland gives you 20% off sit down meals and the AP discount card gives you 10% off merchandise, so I make sure to have them with me.  For some reason they still haven’t linked them to the Magic Band yet.

Sunscreen –  I’m really white.  So even when I put it on in the morning, it’s usually a good idea to reapply.  Especially to my face, which is why I carry the easy to apply sunscreen stick.

Hair tie – It’s hot, and I want my hair out of my face.  Even if I’m already using one they can break, so it’s good to have a backup.

Body glide – I was not blessed with skinny legs.  If you weren’t either, then you probably know the pain of wearing shorts or a dress and feeling your thighs rub against each other and chafe.  Body glide is a great product you can apply so this doesn’t happen.

Extra camera battery – Once I was on the safari and my camera battery died.  It was only halfway through the morning and I didn’t have a backup, so I had no way to take pictures the rest of the day.  I ended up feeling strongly enough about it to go back to the room to get my extra camera battery, but now I always carry it (fully charged) with me.

Cell phone –  It’s not in the photo because I used it to take the picture, but this is probably pretty obvious.  If you’re traveling with others it’s a good way to stay connected, and the Disney Experience app can tell you your FP+ times, dining reservations, and wait times for the rides.
