Stitch Fix review – Alaska cruise edition!

I have now been getting Stitch Fix for  6 years, and have had the same stylist since the beginning. I think half my wardrobe is from Stitch Fix and every time I get a compliment on an outfit the answer is almost always “Stitch Fix.” Julie is a fantastic stylist and I’m so glad she’s been with me for so long!

If you’re not familiar, Stitch Fix is a subscription box service that has you fill out a style profile survey, and then they send you 5 clothing items to try on – you decide what to keep and what to send back!

This time around I asked for some items for my Alaska cruise coming up. I had a hard time deciding what to wear for this vacation. I wanted something that would be stylish and fun, but also keep me warm since it was going to be in about the 50’s while we were there – not your typical “tropical” outfits you’d think of for vacation. Let’s take a look at what Julie picked out for me!

Pink Clover Sybill Hacci Knit Top – $44

I wasn’t sure what I would think about this one but I actually liked it once I tried it on. The look was cute and it was so, so soft. I ultimately sent it back because I wasn’t sure how often I would wear something more casual like this, and I was trying not to spend a TON of money right before the cruise. But the more I look at this photo the more I kind of wish I’d kept this…

Pinque Lia Brushed Knit Hooded Cardigan – $44

If you pay much attention to my fashion you may have noticed I wear a lot of cardigans. I think it comes with the territory of being a librarian! I get cold easily so layering is always good, and that’s especially true for Alaska. This cardigan was so pretty with the flower pattern, it was comfortable, and it had a hood. It was an easy keeper and I wore it our first day in Vancouver, plus to dinner on the ship one night.

Lux and Co Brooke 2fer Knit Maxi Dress – $54

Maxi dresses have really grown on me, and as someone who likes bold colors this one was appealing to me right away with all of the yellow. For the most part I did like how it looked on and it had pockets! But there was one deal breaker… it just didn’t fit right on the top. You can sort of see in the photo but it’s gaping on the top on one side but was fine on the other. Clothing from Stitch Fix is too expensive not to fit perfectly, so back it went.

Daniel Rainn Ranella Crochet Front Keyhole top – $54

This is a fairly straight forward piece, but it’s a good one for mixing and matching with different outfits. As a sleeveless top it’s nice for wearing with a cardigan or sweater. I really liked this one over other tops I’ve gotten in the past because the material is so soft and flatters my body more than some of the boxy tops. And navy blue felt very nautical for a cruise, so I kept this one! And yes, I wore it during a day at sea with a sweater.

Lakeview Denim Alex Colored Skinny Jean – $58

So I actually really liked the color of these jeans – they’re like a dusty rose and matched well with the gray cardigan. However, I just can’t get on board with skinny jeans. They are difficult to get on and I think they end up looking too tight on me – I have pretty big leg muscles thanks to running and just naturally bigger thighs. If I want a tighter look I’ll just go with leggings which I find much more comfortable.

All in all I liked this fix a lot and found a few pieces for my trip (and many of the other clothing items I brought were from past fixes!) It’s always a fun to combine my love of Disney and traveling with my obsession with clothing! Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?  Have you challenged your stylist to help you dress for a Disney trip?
