If you read my review on the first Smuggler’s Bounty box, you’ll know that while there was some good stuff in there, it wasn’t quite up my alley – it was villains themed and I’m definitely a “hero” girl at heart. They announced the January 2016 theme would be the Resistance (aka the good guys) so I’ve been looking forward to it!
For those of you not familiar with Smuggler’s Bounty, this is a Star Wars themed box that comes every other month. Everything in it is exclusive to this box and it is done in collaboration with Funko, so the odds are good that you’ll be receiving at least one POP vinyl in each box.
The pin and patch in this month’s box had our good guys on it, and I’m especially fond of the patch with BB-8! Yes, I’m one of the many who totally fell in love with BB-8.
I believe every box will include a t-shirt as well – this month’s t-shirt was really cute. It looks like a Force Awakens movie poster, but with all of the characters in the style of POP vinyls. I don’t have many Star Wars shirts (only one before this), and I like this one so I’ll be keeping it!
We also got a POP vinyl in this box. It was Chewbacca, and the coolest thing about him is that he’s flocked – which means he’s actually fuzzy! I haven’t taken him out of the box yet but you can tell just by looking at him.
Finally, instead of a second POP vinyl like we got in the last box, this time there was a mug (in the POP vinyl style, of course!). And it was one of my favorite characters from the original trilogy, C-3PO! I’ll be excited to add this one to my Disney mug collection.
All in all I thought this month had a really cool box. As I’ve mentioned before I’m more of a casual Star Wars fan – but there’s no denying that the stuff they include in these boxes is really cool. If they had this for Disney Princesses for example, there would be no question that I’d be subscribed all the time. For now I’m going to play it by ear based on the theme. Next month’s theme is Cantina, which sounds pretty neat – so I’m going to be stay on board for that one!
What’s your favorite thing from this month’s Smuggler’s Bounty box?
