The 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival season is almost upon us. For 2018 it’s lasting for over 2 full months – from August 30th-November 12th. I’ll be there this year at the very end of the festival, but that doesn’t mean I can’t start planning what I want to eat and drink now!
There are probably three types of Disney fans when it comes to the Food and Wine Festival: those who don’t even realize it’s going on, those who decide just to try whatever looks good while they wander, and those who plan out what they want to eat and when. Not surprisingly, I fall into this third group.
There are A LOT of food booths at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. With over 35 booths that usually have 4-10 items at them, there’s no way you can eat it all. And what if you try something that sounds okay at one booth, but then you come across something even better but you’re already full or out of money? That’s why I plan ahead – to make sure I sample the very best of what the festival has to offer.
The one good thing about going at the end of the festival is that I will have the advantage of reading reviews from other bloggers about the best things to try this year. If you’re going earlier you may just have to rely on menu descriptions, but the good news is that a lot of the food items are back from previous years. Between menus, reviews, and previous favorites, it’s a lot to keep track of! I usually take notes in a Google doc or something like that, but it gets a little disorganized.
Enter my amazing friend Kristin. She put together a Google spreadsheet that lists every booth in alphabetical order and each item available at the individual booths. Then there are colored columns next to them for each of the people we are traveling with (we have a group of 3, but you could easily add more!).
The way that we used this worksheet was to go through the items and rank them on a scale of 1-3 how much we’d like to try each item (1 being I definitely need to try it, and 3 being I’ll take a bite if someone else orders it). If we didn’t really have an interest in an item we just left it blank. That way we can compare between the three of us which booths to stop at first, where our #1 priorities are, and what items to leave for last in case we forget to pack our extra stomachs.
One thing I’m hoping to do once the festival starts and we get more details is to add the prices of everything as well. But I’m super excited that she put this together and I think it’s a fantastic resource.
The best part? Kristin told me I could clear out our names to make a blank copy and share it with all of my blog readers! So if you’re a planner like me and you’re headed to Epcot Food and Wine Festival this year, you can get your free copy of this useful worksheet today. Let me know what’s at the top of your list!
If you’re new to Google docs, here’s what you need to know about how the download works. The link that I’ve shared below is a “view only” link. To add your own information and be able to edit it, you can go to “file” and then “make a copy”. That will add a copy of it to your own account that you can put your personal information into! If you’d prefer to print it and make your notes by hand, I also have a PDF version.
