Though it’s only been open for a few years, Tiffins is one of my favorite restaurants on Disney property. I’ve eaten there a number of times, and most recently on my last solo trip I decided to eat there and try the lunch menu. The past year or so they’ve changed how they do lunch, but at the time I was visiting you could choose to order off the regular menu or get a special 2 course lunch.
I decided to try the lunch special menu, but because I just love the food at Tiffins I added on to it as well. It’s hard to decide when everything sounds so delicious! The $35 lunch menu includes an entree (from a choice of 3) and either an appetizer (2 choices) or a dessert duo.
Tiffins really goes above and beyond in welcoming you to the restaurant, particularly if you’ve been there before. On my visit I had a postcard waiting for me at the table that said “welcome back.” I settled in by myself, had a lovely server, placed my order, and pulled out my book to enjoy everything.
They bring you free bread, which is different than the rolls and butter you might get at other restaurants. This is a pomegrante bread that comes with a tangy pomegranate olive oil (though they will bring you butter if you ask for it):
Tiffins has a lot of great cocktails and mixed drinks, and I’ve tried a few of them, but on this trip I decided to go for the beer flight (First Magnitude Wakulla hefeweizen, Kungaloosh Spiced Ale, and Tampa Bay Brewing Company Old Elephant Foot IPA):
Surprisingly, the hefeweizen was probably my least favorite of the three, as they are normally my favorite. It was fairly light and tasty, and definitely good, the others were just more interesting. The Kungaloosh was very unique. I did enjoy it, but I’m not sure I could have a whole glass. It’s definitely spiced and different than most dark beers I’ve had before. I was surprised by how much I liked the Old Elephant foot – IPAs are not usually my favorite, but this was a really good one. So I’m very glad I got the sampler to try them all.
The appetizer I selected was the Spiced Chickpea Falafel (mint-pistachio pesto, cumin-scented garlic raita, pickled vegetables):
This was tasty and a perfect way to start the meal. The falafel was nice and crisp, and I really enjoyed the pesto that came with it. So many of the flavors at Tiffins are very different from what I normally eat, so it’s an exciting meal.
For the entree you had a choice between the wagyu beef tagine, paella, or the roasted chicken breast. I had to ask what tagine was and she said it was like an African stew. Sounded good to me so I ordered the Wagyu Beef Tagine:
Such a good choice! This was so flavorful and delicious I ate every last bite. I’m a little disappointed it’s not on the regular menu so I can’t get it again unless I do the special lunch menu!
Despite eating everything and not being a person with a huge stomach, I couldn’t leave Tiffins without ordering dessert. The entree and appetizer were included in the $35 lunch, so I paid extra to have dessert. They had a trio on the menu that I decided to try. It contained a taste of their chocolate ganache, passion fruit tapioca, and whipped cheesceake. I also ordered a press pot of African coffee:
The desserts at Tiffins are so, so good. I can usually skip dessert if I’m full (like I was with this meal), but I can’t say no at Tiffins. I’m glad they offered the trio because I’ve been wanting to try new things, but I also always want to order an old favorite. Keep in mind that these are very small portions since it’s part of a tasting trio. Here is a better look at the South American Chocolate Ganache (caramelized banana, cocoa nib tuile):
Chocolate lovers rejoice! This is absolutely decadent, and perfectly complemented by the raspberry sauce and the delicious caramelized banana.
Next up was the whipped cheesecake (Amarula Panna Cotta, Sesame Crumbs, Espresso Sponge):
This was probably my least favorite of the three, but that’s partly because I’m not a huge fan of cheesecake to begin with. A lot of different flavors going on there.
And finally we come to my favorite, the Passion Fruit Tapioca Creme (Chocolate Crumble, Citrus Fruits):
I don’t think I could leave Tiffins without eating this. I never knew I was a fan of tapioca, but whatever is happening here is delicious. The passion fruit is layered with citrus, containing actual slices of orange and grapefruit. The chocolate crumbles on top just make it perfect, as chocolate and fruit is my favorite combination ever.
And you might think the meal is over at this point, but it’s still not done! As a goodbye gift Tiffins gives you an art print done by Joe Rhode as well as chocolate bark for free. This was so delicious. I think it had various nuts, caramel, maybe something else. I’ve heard everyone gets the art print but the chocolate is only for returning visitors. Everything about Tiffins is worth coming back!
Tiffins is one of my favorite restaurants ever (not just at Disney). The food is delicious but also very unique – I can’t get anything like it at a restaurant near me. It’s high quality, the atmosphere is nice, and the service has been good. If you’re cringing because the prices are high (it is a signature restaurant) I would first say it’s totally worth it, but consider just doing the appetizer/entree or entree/dessert. I may or may not have spent close to $80 on a solo lunch but I have no regrets. It was worth it.
Have you dined at Tiffins? What’s your favorite thing you’ve tried there? Would you want to try lunch at Tiffins?
