Lesser Known Disney treats

Lesser Known Disney Treats - Disney in your Day

Most Disney fans, even casual ones, know the big snacks they have to try while they’re there: Dole whip, Mickey bar, Mickey shaped pretzel, turkey leg, zebra domes and school bread from Norway, to name a few (and if you haven’t heard of those, that might need to be its own separate blog post!).  In fact, some of these snacks are so popular they now have their own merchandise!  However, Disney offers a ton of great snacks, and while those famous ones are delicious, sometimes you just might want to try something new.  So here are some of the “lesser known Disney treats” that you might want to consider ordering on your next visit!

Cheshire Cat Tail

In Fantasyland you can find something fun at the Cheshire Café.  These pastries are called Cheshire Cat tails, and they are basically pastries with chocolate chips, but also covered in fun icing.  They look adorable and I bet they taste good too!  They’d go well with the coffee and tea served here too.

Nutella Waffle Sandwich

They have a couple of different waffle sandwiches over at Sleepy Hollow, but my favorite (and the one that makes a good snack rather than a meal – though you could certainly have it for lunch!) is the one with nutella and fruit.  It’s a big old waffle slathered in nutella and stuffed with fresh fruits like strawberries, bananas, and blueberries.  Mmm.  So much fruit you can almost convince yourself it’s healthy! I actually wrote a whole blog post about it here.

Citrus Swirl

Being in Adventureland, this one gets overshadowed by the Dole Whip.  However, it might be known to serious readers of this blog as being my personal #1 favorite Disney snack.  It’s a delicious blend of vanilla soft service and an orange ice.  The combo of the smooth vanilla with the tart orange is just out of this world – if you’re a creamsicle fan you definitely don’t want to pass this one up!  I get one every trip.  Plus, it has the cutest mascot – the Orange Bird!  Read my post all about the citrus swirl here.

Mr. Kamal’s Fries with Dipping Sauce

Strawberry Shortcake

Over in Sunshine Seasons in Epcot’s Future World, they have a variety of desserts at their bakery section.  But the standout is certainly the Strawberry Shortcake.  It may not be the most unique of desserts, but it is very good.  And for the price you get a nice sized portion!  Read about it on the Disney Food Blog.

 Cupcakes at Starring Rolls Starbucks

It’s hard to pick just one cupcake from Hollywood Studios to feature, so I thought it was worth mentioning all of them here!  If you’re craving a snack and are in the mood for a gigantic cupcake, they have some delicious ones here!  These are seriously huge, so they’re good to share too.  The Butterfinger Cupcake is super popular, but the Red Velvet and Chocolate Peanut Butter are very good too.  And sometimes the kinds of cupcakes they have change too.  These cupcakes were available at Starring Rolls, but a lot of them moved over to Starbucks.

Night Blossom

New at Pandora: the World of Avatar, this frozen treat in Animal Kingdom is really, really good.  The Night Blossom is available at Pongu Pongu and is described as “a Mixture of Limeade with Apple and Desert Pear flavors topped with Passion Fruit Boba Balls.”  It’s their non-alcoholic specialty, and I thought it was way better than the alcoholic frozen drink they had there.  Lots of great, refreshing flavors, and it’s really pretty too!

Amorette’s Patisserie

It’s hard to keep up with all of the new things at Disney Springs, and most people looking for a sweet treat might head straight to the Sprinkles Cupcakes shop.  However, Amorette’s Patisserie is a place that absolutely should be visited.  They have a variety of items, including large cakes, but they also have single serving size cakes and pastries.  I got this incredible little raspberry meringue one called “Dancing with Pavlova.”  Everything else there sounded amazing too, so I’m going to have to go back to try more of the menu!

Do you have any favorite lesser known Disney treats?
