Last year I had an Inside Out themed party for my birthday. The good old days when we could have parties! Of course I love a good theme, so I decided to get into it and create food and drink items in 5 different colors to match each of the 5 emotions. In addition to snacks and an Inside Out cake, of course I had to make some Inside Out cocktails!
I did some research to find 5 cocktails in the 5 different colors. Some were easier than others – there were plenty of blue options (mostly using blue curacao) and a lot of different drinks that had midori for green. Purple definitely turned out to be the most challenging one. I also wanted to provide a variety of types of cocktails so it wasn’t all overly sweet and fruity cocktails. In the end I think we had a pretty good assortment, though the blue margarita seemed to be the biggest hit!
Below I’m happy to share my Inside Out cocktails:
Joy Lemoncello cocktail

- lemon slices
- 1 tablespoon Lemoncello liqueur
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

To garnish glass before making cocktail – combine sugar with a few drops of yellow food coloring. Stir well into color is distributed. Rub the rim of the glass with a a cut lemon, then dip rim of glass in the sugar.
Pour 1 tablespoon of Lemoncello into glass. Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Fill glass with prosecco and garnish with a lemon slice!

Anger whiskey cocktail

Which of these Inside Out cocktails would you most like to try?
oh my goooodness these are so fun! I love Inside Out, it’s such a cute movie! I never thought of having themed drinks, that’s genius!
I’ll admit that for a half second before reading the recipe, I thought Anger had salsa in it because that’s what was in the photo with the cocktail!!! Haha! How crazy would that be? I think I’d definitely be angry if someone put salsa in my drink. Oh dear. But these sound delicious, and I love the theme. It’s so cute and whimsical. Definitely creative. I think the Joy and Sadness drinks would be my favorite!
I’m such a huge fan of COLOUR, so I adore these! I know everyone *loves* this movie so please don’t berate me for not seeing it yet ? I KNOW I’ll love it too, I just haven’t gotten around to watching it yet! These drinks really do look amazing, though. I can’t drink due to my epilepsy so I’d have to make mine mocktails, but I bet they’d still be super tasty – either way, they’d still be pretty ?
LOVE this! This is such a great idea for an Inside Out party. I think I’d like Joy the best, but all of these are so much fun!
