Bucket List: Drink around the World in Epcot

Drink around the World - Disney in your Day

During our December Disney trip, we decided to tackle that often talked about bucket list item that’s popular with Disney adults – drinking around the “World” in Epcot.  If you’re not familiar with the term, what it means is that you stop in every country in the World Showcase for a drink.  There’s 11 countries, so that’s 11 drinks in one afternoon or evening.  What makes this so much fun is the fact that a lot of the countries have some really unique drinks that you don’t normally get a chance to try!Drink around the World - Disney in your Day

We decided to spread them out throughout the day so that we wouldn’t be stumbling around or anything.  Plus we made sure to have plenty of food and snacks!  We started in Mexico and made our way over to Canada by the end of the evening.  If you’re curious, here’s the low down on what we tried in each country.

Mexico: La Cava del Tequila

Mexico is known for their margaritas, so we had a try them here!  We each got a different flavor – cucumber, blood orange, and passion fruit.  I loved mine (passion fruit) because it had a great sweet and tangy flavor – and I’m not usually a big margarita drinker!  They are high quality and delicious with a ton of flavor options, but they are also pricy – $13 per drink here, plus tip!

Norway – Akershus

We had dinner reservations at Akershus, so when we started around the World in the afternoon we skipped Norway and then came back to it, figuring we’d have our drinks with dinner.  There aren’t a lot of other options to have drinks in Norway.  We enjoyed the Stavanger (frozen blend of Raspberry, Vodka, and Linie Aquavit) and the Prince of Norway (blend of Apricot Brandy, Sloe Gin, Sour Mix and Orange Juice).

China – Joy Of Tea

This stand has some really sweet and tasty drinks!  We had the Peach Snap and the Canto Loopy – that one was great!  It was basically like cantaloupe and vodka, and I loved it.

Germany – Bier Stand and Weinkeller

While in Germany I decided I wanted a beer while my husband wanted wine, so we split up and met back together with our drinks.  I had the grapefruit beer and let me tell you, it was fantastic!  Not super alcoholic but the flavor, if you like grapefruit, is super good.  Hubby got a sweet white wine, I think it was a Riesling, which he enjoyed.

Italy – Holiday Stand

Because we visited during December, there were a number of temporary stands set up in the countries that offered a couple of drinks and snacks.  For Italy we visited the holiday stand, where I was able to get my beloved Rosa Regale, a sparkling and very sweet red wine.  My husband went with a shot of sambuca!

America – Holiday Stand

The USA is another place where we hit up the holiday stand, and we both got a sparkling white wine from Once upon a Vine.  It was okay, though I will say this was probably my least favorite out of all the drinks we tried.

Japan – Sake Bar

Located inside of the gift shop is a small sake bar with a wide variety of sakes that you can try.  We weren’t really familiar with the drink but being in Japan we knew we had to try it!  We both went with a sweeter sake and it was definitely interesting.

Morocco – Tangierine Cafe

We had the sangria here.  While it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t the best sangria I’d ever had.  I would certainly try something else next time I’m in Morocco, though!

France  – Slushie Stand

The Grand Marnier slushie is a favorite of mine, so it was a no brainer that I would be having one of these.  They also make a grey goose lemonade one, if that’s more your style.  My husband decided for his drink he would head into the new ice cream shop and get vanilla ice cream with a shot of grand marnier!

UK – Rose and Crown

We ended up heading into the bar since there are many more drink options there than the stand outside.  I had the cider & black, which is hard cider with blackcurrant juice.  Hubby ordered something called a Leaping Leprechaun.  I don’t recall what was in it, but I know it was green and he liked it!

Canada – Refreshment Port

This one might have been cheating a little bit since it’s technically not “in” Canada.  But the beer stand had closed since Illuminations had just ended (even though it was extra magic hours), and I wasn’t really in the mood for beer anyway.  I had a hot cocoa with a shot of caramel liqueur.  It was heavenly!  Especially when it gets just a little bit chilly in the Florida winter evenings.  I will definitely be having this again if we come back during the holiday season.

Drink around the World - Disney in your Day

It’s probably worth noting that drinks in Disney World can be very expensive!  Drinking around the World is not a budget friendly option, that’s for certain.  I added up all the numbers and did some calculations.  For one person, I spent $90.82 on drinks.  For us as a couple, sharing a drink here and there, our total was $169.84.  But it was definitely something to experience!

How interesting! My husband and I always END in Mexico, just because we don’t want to start the day with the tequila! And we also take is slow, continually reminding each other, “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” 🙂

Good advice! I’ve heard La Cava can get really crowded in the evening, so that was part of why we started in Mexico!

I think that’s true, and I think they’ve changed how they serve now. It used to be that you could just go in and sit at the bar. Unfortunately (?) when my husband bought a tequila flight, the guys behind the bar kept filling up his little glasses ’cause he “wasn’t finishing fast enough.” They also kept filling up my margarita glass. (We had just gotten engaged there and maybe they were just celebrating with us.)
