I love a good margarita – a Epcot’s Mexico pavilion is a great place to get them because they have so many different types of flavors! Whether you grab one from the stand outside, go into the tequila bar at La Cava del Tequila, or have a meal and margarita to go with it, you’ll find lots of tasty options. On a recent trip we ate at San Angel Inn and I had the avocado margarita, which was surprisingly good – so I had to investigate this avocado margarita recipe!
I love a visit to La Cava del Tequila, where this recipe comes from. They opened a few years ago and it’s been a great addition to Epcot. They have a variety of tasty margaritas, but it’s a popular place and can get a little crowded! Since we ate at San Angel Inn and they are in the same building as La Cava they can get margaritas from there at lunch or dinner.
The idea of an avocado margarita might sound a little strange, but it’s actually quite delicious. There’s not a ton of avocado flavor, instead you mostly get the flavors of melon from the midori and of lime from the lime juice. The avocado just lends a nice creaminess to the drink.
La Cava del Tequila has been going live on their instagram with walk-throughs of how to make many of their cocktails using ingredients you might have at home. While I don’t have the items to make all of the cocktails they share I was able to get everything together for this one!
This is the recipe that they shared, though I found it to be very strong – when I try it again I will probably only do 1.5 oz. of tequila to balance things out a little more! I also didn’t have hibiscus salt but I used an herb salt we had for the rim.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Tequila Blanco
- 1 oz Melon Liqueur
- 1 oz fresh Lime Juice
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 0.5 oz Orange Liqueur
- Half Avocado
- Hibiscus Salt Rim
Directions: Blend all ingredients together in a blender until smooth and creamy. Rim glass with salt, pour margarita into glass, and enjoy!

Have to admit, this recipe really caught our attention! We love avocados, but in a cocktail?! Will have to give this a whirl. Cheers!
I love La Cava Del Tequila so much! I usually go for the cucumber margarita there, but I have tried the avocado one a few times and it’s so good. I can’t wait to try making this at home.
Remember to add ice in the blender,. This is a fabulous margarita. It’s offered at Frontera Cocina at Disney Springs as well as the Mexican pavilion in Epcot.
