I’m fortunate enough to go to Disney multiple times a year, which means that I get to go with different groups of people. Sometimes I go solo, sometimes I go with my husband, and sometimes I for a girls’ weekend! The way I approach Disney varies depending on the time of year and who I’m going with, so I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about my plans when it’s just the ladies traveling! I’m happy to share the Disney girls trip itinerary that we created.
Day 1 – Arrival Day and Epcot
For our first day our flight landed in Orlando around 1:30pm, and we planned to spend the rest of the day in Epcot. We stayed at the Boardwalk resort, which meant we were within easy walking distance to Epcot. It was also Food and Wine Festival season! I highly recommend Epcot for a girls’ trip. If there’s a festival going on you can try a little bit of everything at the food booths, but even if there’s not you can stop in the countries around World Showcase and drink around the world or snack around the world!
Day 2 – Epcot and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
We actually started out this day like the crazy runners we are and participated in the Seaside Sprint, a fun run held at the Boardwalk. It happens every Friday morning at 8am and it’s a good way to get a little exercise in before the parks! It was 1.5 miles, so after running we showered and then walked over to Epcot, where we started off with Food and Wine once again.
Since it had been an early morning of running and our tummies were full, we then headed back to the room for a bit of a break/nap. At various times we made our way to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The party officially starts at 7pm, but we had some fastpasses for the afternoon. Then we had a ton of fun meeting characters, doing a few more rides, and seeing the holiday shows! It was a lot of fun to do the Christmas Party with a group of girls.
Day 3 – Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs dinner
One of our group hadn’t seen Toy Story Land yet, so Hollywood Studios was in the plans so we could ride Slinky Dog and experience everything there! We did a number of the rides in Hollywood Studios and also made sure to enjoy a few adult beverages. We opted for some of the holiday special drinks that they had available, but any time of year I would highly recommend Baseline Taphouse if you’re a fan of beer.
After another midday break we headed to Disney Springs for the evening. We had a nice dinner planned, but before our reservation we walked the Christmas tree trail. If you’re planning a girls trip there’s a ton of fun things you could do in Disney Springs. Lots of shopping options, fun bars, or even bowling or a movie. Despite the slower service we had a great dinner at the Edison, which has a fun atmosphere and is a good place for ladies night.
Day 4 – Brunch at California Grill and Epcot
On Sunday we had our biggest “girl trip” event planned – brunch at California Grill. We went into Magic Kingdom for about two hours before our brunch reservation and the three of us split up to do our own thing. This was a good bit of “break” time, because while we love each other it’s good to have some alone time now and again too! We met up to go to brunch at 11.
California Grill is a fantastic location and while the brunch was pricey, it was absolutely delicious. We dressed up in our fancy Disney dresses, and when the host saw how nice we looked he made sure to move our table from where we were originally supposed to be to right next to the windows. There is a great view of the Magic Kingdom from here. We had a wonderful time enjoying the eats, the view, and the unlimited bellinis.
After some more rides in Magic Kingdom we headed back to Epcot to do Food and Wine for dinner. We had thought about going back to the Contemporary to watch Happily Ever After from the balcony of California Grill (you can return for fireworks if you dined there that day!), but we were too tired to go back to Magic Kingdom. So we hung out on the Boardwalk by Joe’s Margarita hut.
Day 5 – Animal Kingdom and Epcot
Our last day in Disney started at my favorite park, Animal Kingdom! We were able to get fastpasses for Flight of Passage and did the safari. We split up for a bit here too as I like to take a long time on the animal trails with my camera. The evening was back to Epcot for Food and Wine one final time! We spent a lot of time in Light Lab, which was really cool, and of course ended the evening with margaritas.
Tips for a girls trip:
I have a full post about how to plan a girls trip, but here are a few ideas that were really the highlight of the trip for us:
- Plan one fancy meal and get dressed up for it
- If you partake in alcohol, plan to spend a lot of time in Epcot
- Do some matching or coordinating outfits for cute photos
- Don’t be afraid to spend some time apart so you don’t drive each other crazy!
- Consider staying at a nicer hotel. You’ll have more space than at a value (especially if you’re going to share a bed, like we did!), and when you’re splitting the price with other women it can make the deluxes or moderates more affordable.
Have you ever taken a Disney girls trip? What do you think of our Disney girls trip itinerary? What would you want to do?
