Today please help me welcome guest post author Clayton, a fan of Disney and all amusement parks! He has prepared an article about staying safe in any theme park, including the Disney parks.
There’s nowhere quite as exciting as a theme park. It’s the reason why Walt Disney
Attractions attracted 157.3 million visitors in 2018.
Filled with death-defying rides for the thrill seekers, incredible parades and celebrations and
enough food and drink to excite even the fussiest of eaters, theme parks are a fantastic way
to make your holiday extra special.
To make sure nothing ruins your day, we’ve got the four best essential safety tips for you to
follow.
1. Listen to ride instructions
“Keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.”
We’re sure you’re familiar with most of the safety briefings when it comes to rides. It’s your
job to follow them.
They aren’t there for fun. They’re there to help keep you safe when on the ride and should
not be ignored. This also applies for height restrictions. If you fall just short of the required
mark, don’t stand on your tiptoes to get in. It’s not safe for you.
2. Stop for plenty of drinks
When there’s so much to do and see, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement.
But you need to remember to take breaks often and drink plenty of water when at a theme park.
That’s because the most common injury in a theme park is dehydration. Make sure it doesn’t
happen to you.
3. Stay together
There’s safety in numbers. Even though some of your party might want to go and see
different things during the day, it’s safer if you all stick together.
If you do separate, make sure everyone has each other’s phone numbers or emergency
contact if they need it.
4. Keep your belongings safe and secure
The last thing you want when you’re out at a theme park is for someone to ruin your day by
stealing your belongings.
So, when you’re walking around the park, ensure that you keep them on you at all times.
You also need to make sure they’re in hard to reach places and zipped up if possible.
Unfortunately, the downside of theme parks is that you can’t always carry your belongings with you
on the rides.
If you’ve got one person in your group who doesn’t want to go on them, whether they’re
scared, motion sick or just need a time out, it’s a good idea to have them mind your
belongings while you queue up for the next ride.
However, if you don’t have this friend you will need to leave them in the designated areas.
When doing this, make sure you remember where you put your belongings and try to
arrange them in a way where you don’t advertise what’s on show. Once the ride is over,
make a beeline straight to them and collect them as quickly as possible.
For extra peace of mind, it also might be worth taking out some form of protection for your
belongings.
And that’s it. We hope you have the best time enjoying your next theme park experience!
What do you do to make sure you stay safe in the theme parks?
This is a super useful blog post! Safety is one of the most things to take into account when you go everywhere!
I’ll save it for later
Absolutely, in any place with large crowds of people safety needs to be a priority!
One thing I appreciate about Disney is that you can take your belongings on most, if not all, rides. I always get so nervous leaving them unattended. I try to pack light, but without fail, I always seem to have some sort of baggage I am carrying around the park!
I agree, I always have a bag. When I go to Hershey park and other places I get nervous having it out of my sight! I literally bought shorts in the boys’ section of Target so I would have pockets big enough to hold my stuff and I wouldn’t need to carry a bag, haha.
These tips are great! Safety is so important when at a theme park, your last tip is so great as well I am always afraid to leave things while on a ride hahah.
