Disney treasures subscription box review – June 2017

June 22, 2017 by beckyginther@gmail.com 4 Comments

Disney Treasures - Disney in your Day

This was the second box I received from the Disney Treasures subscription box service, which pairs Disney and Funko.  If you’re not familiar with Funko, they are the company that makes those POP Vinyls – the little figures with the big heads. Disney POPs are very popular, so a partnership for a subscription box between these two companies was very exciting news for many! The boxes are delivered every other month and include classic Disney and Disney theme park themed items, and will always have at least 1 exclusive POP vinyl, in addition to other goodies.

June’s theme was Festival of Friends.  At first I thought it was more of a circus theme, since the advertised item in the box was a Dumbo POP Vinyl.  But with the other items in the box it is truly a friendship theme.  Aside from Dumbo and Timothy, we’ve got Toy Story (You’ve Got a Friend in Me) and man’s best friend (Pluto – or is it mouse’s best friend?).  So let’s take a look:

The advertised Dumbo POP is a cute one.  It’s got Dumbo flying with Timothy Q. Mouse on the top of his head.  It’s on a clear base so it stands up well (the Smee POP from the last box won’t stand up for me.  His tummy is too big and he topples over!).  This is a very cool looking one and I’m glad I got it.  It’s exclusive to the box.

There was a second POP vinyl in the box, which surprised me a tiny bit – I thought there would be more variety of items rather than all (or mostly) POP vinyls.  This one was Pluto, and it was also an exclusive.  They said it was the first Pluto POP, which surprised me!  I would have thought they would have made one of him already.

Finally, there was a mini figure inside a tin, just like in the first box.  This one was Woody, and the tin was themed after Toy Story Midway Mania.  I really like the tins, since they’re designed around park attractions.  And the figures are cute, but I just don’t need another type of figure to collect at this point.

As always a patch and pin were included in this friendship box.  The patch featured Piglet, and the pin was Thumper.

All in all I thought it was an okay box.  I realize it’s Funko so I should probably expect mostly POP vinyls, but I was hoping for a little more variety.  I’ve gotten other boxes by them (Star Wars, Marvel) and I thought they had a nicer assortment.  In addition to the POPs I got other things like t-shirts, lanyards, and coffee mugs.  Maybe a future box will surprise me!

The next Disney Treasures box comes in August, and the theme is Tiny Town.  Looks like this one will feature the smaller Disney characters.  The photos feature Tinkerbell, but I’ll have to think about what other tiny Disney characters might make this box!

What do you think of this Disney Treasures box? Any guesses for what might be in the next one?
