10 most romantic restaurants in Disney World

February 14, 2018 by Becky 3 Comments

Whether you’ll be in Disney World for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, or you just want a special meal with your significant other, there are lots of great choices for romantic restaurants in Disney World. It’s easy to think of theme park restaurants and picture screaming kids, characters everywhere, and buffets – but that’s not always the case.  There are lots of quiet, intimate, romantic spots all over Disney World.

I’ve tried to pick a selection of different types of restaurants for this list. It would be easy just to list all of the signature restaurants and call it a day.  However, some couples may not want to spend the money it costs for a signature meal, they may prefer less “fancy” dishes, or they might just be looking for a place that’s still fun but also romantic.  I’m hoping there’s something on this list to appeal to everyone!

California Grill

Large windows with a gorgeous view at California Grill

I will pick a signature restaurant to kick off this list because this one is excellent and ticks off a lot of the boxes of what most people would want in a romantic restaurant.  The setting is beautiful – on the top floor of the Contemporary, it looks down on the Magic Kingdom with gorgeous views. If you time your meals during the fireworks you can see them from inside, and even if you eat earlier you can bring your receipt back and watch the fireworks from their balcony that evening.  The food is delicious.  They also have a great brunch option, if you prefer your romantic meal in the morning.

Tokyo Dining

I consider sushi to be a very romantic meal – maybe it’s because Jason and I enjoy going out for sushi so we often pick it for date nights or special occasions. Or maybe it’s because we usually pick a couple of rolls to share, and there’s a sense of love and selflessness in sharing food with someone else. Let’s be honest, sharing food can be a HUGE act of love because if something tastes good, I kinda want to eat all of it.  Tokyo Dining has some delicious sushi and if you get a seat by the window, it’s a lovely view overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon.

Tony’s Town Square

One of the most romantic scenes from a Disney movie would have to be the part in Lady and the Tramp where they share a plate of spaghetti.  Magic Kingdom happens to have a restaurant that is a replica of the Italian place where they enjoyed that meal, so it’s a fun choice for big Disney fans! The space is very pretty, with a statue of Lady and the Tramp and a nice outdoor area as well. The food is typical casual Italian food, whether you choose to enjoy the spaghetti or something else.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

For many a steakhouse is the definition of a romantic meal.  And the best one is probably Yachtsman Steakhouse, located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.  It’s a signature restaurant, so expect great food and a longer, more relaxing meal.  The steaks are obviously excellent, but if you like mac and cheese at all you have to get a side of their truffle mac and cheese. I may go back just for that.

Trattoria al Forno

Calamari at dinner

A nice Italian meal with a good wine would be a lovely way to spend Valentine’s Day, and Trattoria al Forno has good food and a fun location on the Boardwalk. Consider going out to dinner and then having some fun by jumping over to the Boardwalk’s dueling piano bar, Jellyroll’s! But I want to offer another alternative for Trattoria, and that’s a visit there for breakfast.  Some may balk at a character meal for a “romantic” meal, but those who are kids at heart may have a great time. Jason and I went on our anniversary trip and had a blast – they even brought us champagne for breakfast. And since the characters are couples (Rapunzel and Flynn, plus Ariel and Eric) it’s a great way to celebrate love!

Jiko

Scallops from Jiko

I will admit that I am partial to Jiko for a few reasons. Jason and I ate here to celebrate our second anniversary and everything about it was amazing. I also love the African flavors and the food offerings they have there.  Animal Kingdom Lodge is such a lovely place to just walk around, and I really like the bar that they have too if you want a before or after dinner drink.

Sanaa

Bread service <3

I had to go with another at Animal Kingdom Lodge because it’s close to my heart.  Sanaa is one of the best restaurants on property at a more affordable price than signature restaurants.  Share the amazing bread service while looking out at the animals around the savanna. Take your significant other… or take me 😉

Beaches and Cream

Maybe your vision of romantic is a throwback to the 50’s and sharing a milkshake at the soda shop. If you like that more fun, themed idea for Valentine’s Day, Beaches and Cream would be perfect. Their sundaes are gigantic and great for sharing – just don’t try to tackle the kitchen sink unless it’s a double date!

Sci-Fi Dine In

Another more themed date night… you have to admit there’s something classically romantic about a Drive-In Movie, right? Sci-Fi recreates that atmosphere. And while you may have to put up with kids being around, it’s a really fun and different way to celebrate a special occasion.

Victoria and Albert’s

Of course, no list of romantic restaurants would be complete without this one on the list. Victoria and Albert’s is the only one I haven’t been to, and it’s a fine dining establishment that has won numerous awards throughout the year. You pay a premium for it, but everyone I’ve talked to says it has been worth it. Think 7 course meals or the option for a Chef’s Table experience. I’m really hopeful we’ll get to try it in the future – maybe for our 10 year anniversary!

I would love to try Sanaa someday, and the Drive-In just looks so fun! I’ve had many a fun night at the actual drive-in theater where we used to live in Michigan!

Great roundup! I’m so surprised I’ve only been to 2 on this list, and ironically, never with my boyfriend, haha. We normally opt for more casual dining when we’re at the parks but I do want to try more of these!
