Imagine this: you pick out two high quality clothing items from a website to have sent to you, and then you fill out a style profile and have a stylist pick out 3-4 other items that are all then mailed to you. They show up on your doorstep in an adorable tote bag and you’ve just expanded your wardrobe like that. What’s the catch?
Honestly, there isn’t really one. There is a price, of course – this Golden Tote is $149. Perhaps you’re saying, “Hmm. That seems like a little bit of an investment when I don’t even know some of the things I’m getting or if I’ll like them.” And that’s what I thought too at first – until I learned that you can return the entire tote and get a full refund within 14 days. $149 for 6 clothing pieces? That’s basically $25 per item, which is a total steal considering some of the adorable dresses and things that I got, and much cheaper than Stitch Fix. If you feel what you like isn’t worth it you can always send the whole thing back – but you’re picking out two of the things yourself, and there’s even an official facebook group where you can trade.

Fantastic Fawn Geo Print A-Line dress
The first item I’m sharing is probably my favorite thing from this Golden Tote. It was one of my surprise items, and it’s an adorable navy blue dress with a fun pattern. I absolutely love the fit and flare style! I got so many compliments when I wore it to work and one of my co-workers said it was a really classic look. I paired it with a black belt and black flats. The material is pretty thick too, making it a great dress for fall or even winter with some leggings and boots.
Pink Owl Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse and Puella Cardigan in Plum
The next two tote items paired perfectly together! One was a plum colored cardigan, and if you’ve read my Stitch Fix reviews you probably know that I absolutely love cardigans. And the color is gorgeous! It went well with the abstract print blouse.
When I first tried on the blouse it seemed a bit big and I wasn’t crazy about the fit. Then I realized it looked a heck of a lot better if I tucked it in. I’m still learning fashion here. But I’m pretty happy with this look. I paired the blouse and the cardigan with my absolute favorite pair of Old Navy jeans and my black boots. Here’s an untucked look if you’re curious:
I don’t own any pencil skirts – until now. I’ve always liked the style of them but since they are tight I feel a little self conscious of my tummy sometimes. This is something that if I’d gotten it in a Stitch Fix, I’d probably have sent it back after trying it on. But since it’s mine to keep I wore it to work, and i have to say it really grew on me! I liked how it looked with a big belt, and it’s soft and comfortable. It’s another great transition piece too. For these nice fall days we’ve been having I can wear it with a short sleeved shirt and flats, but when it gets cold in the winter I’ll be able to pair it with leggings and boots.
The texture is something that is really different but I like it! I will say that I think given where the tag is on the skirt the zipper is actually supposed to be worn in the front. I am not a zipper in the front kind of person though, so i put it in the back. Regardless of where it is supposed to be, this is how I’ll wear it!
Brunch to Boardroom Blouse
The next two items are the ones I got to pick out myself based on a number of choices. The first is a blouse. It is white with black patterns, though the top was also available with blue details instead of black.
I am very happy with the shirt! It’s soft, comfortable, and fits well. It was pretty wrinkly out of the tote but that was fixed with a little ironing. The one thing to note is that the sleeves are a little tight around the edges. The don’t feel tight when you’re wearing them but if you try to push the sleeves up you’ll have trouble. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing this one a good bit.
Renee C Work of Art Dress
The last item I got was this Renee C dress, and it was the other one that I had picked out. This is actually the one I’m most on the fence about. I love the colors, style, and pattern. The only problem is that the top part is really large and baggy. The bottom is pretty tight and fits perfectly – any smaller and it would be too small! It has an elastic waist so it has a very defined top and bottom, and the top half just seems to have a ton of extra fabric, at least on me. Still, I love how it looks with a big belt and boots.
Overall, I’m so pleased and impressed with my Golden Tote! It was honestly something I was a little scared to try because of the $149 price tag, but it was completely worth it. The fact that you can send the entire thing back for a refund means there’s really no risk if you end up with a worst case scenario. I have a feeling I’ll be ordering another one when the spring season comes around.
