Last week I was fortunate to get a couple of fun packages in the mail! I participated in two mail swaps recently, and both arrived around the same time. So fun! If you’re not familiar with the idea of a swap, it’s pretty much what it sounds like – you’re matched up with someone, get to know them, and swap items. There’s usually a specific theme to the swap. One of the ones I did was a sweater swap, and the other was a blogger swap.
The sweater swap was run by the blog Coffee by Summer. You were paired up with someone, filled out a survey about your size, preferences, and other information, and we had a budget of about $25-30. I was matched up with Autumn from the blog Stay Gold Autumn! I had a lot of fun picking out a sweater for her. She described her preferences as darker colors like purple, teal, and gray, and liked something with fun details. If you’re curious, you can see what I got her here!
And I was very excited when I saw my package from Autumn! I had said that I like fun colors and patterns, and that I would prefer a cardigan. She picked out a lovely sweater for me – it has a really cool pattern and I love the color. I wore it to work today and the first thing my co-worker said when I walked in was, “I love your sweater!” Autumn also threw in a few other goodies for me to enjoy.
The other swap going on recently was a blogger swap, run by the facebook group Blog Passion Project (side note – if you’re a blogger this is the best facebook group I’ve found for support!). The guidelines were to get to know your blogging buddy through email and then send them a care package. I got matched up with Emma from the blog Courage to Bloom. I had a ton of fun picking out things I thought she might like.
And when I received my package from her, I was so excited! She did an amazing job of picking things out for me. She fit everything into this adorable orange jar (if you didn’t know, orange is my favorite color – so I’ll definitely have to find a way to repurpose it!). Inside was orange nail polish, some candy, washi tape (I’m excited to use it for some crafting!), a pretty necklace, and earl grey tea (my absolute favorite kind of tea). But the highlight for me was the most adorable Disney princess bookmarks. They are so cute, and as a librarian I can never get enough bookmarks!
It’s so much fun to get packages in the mail like this, and I find it equally enjoyable to pick out things to send to others as well. It’s why Christmas is one of my favorite times of year – I love giving gifts. I look forward to other swaps in the future!
