Subscription boxes are usually monthly packages that get delivered right to your door, based around a theme. Most of the time the exact items that are in it are a surprise, but you know you’ll always get things related to that theme. For instance, there are make-up boxes where you can get different kinds of make-up, geeky boxes, food boxes, etc. I am subscribed to a couple of boxes and while I will do separate posts on the Disney related boxes and Stitch Fix, I figured I would put the rest of what I get into one big monthly post here!
The theme for this month’s Loot Crate , a subscription box of geeky goods, was Heroes (part 2). They had done a hero box once before and it was so successful they did it again!
Q-Pop Batman: This is another sort of little figurine. My friend likes these because he displays all his geeky items on his mantle so this fits right in, though Pop Vinyls are his favorite.
Batman keychain: I thought this was really cool. It’s a keychain that’s also a bottle opener and two screwdrivers. My friend thought it was too big to actually use as a keychain and carry around, but we used it at a party that weekend to open bottles!
The League of Regrettable Superheroes: This book looks awesome. It details a number of superheroes you can’t imagine actually existed in comics – but they did!
Star Trek air freshener: I love Star Trek so I thought this was great. My friend already has a couple of air fresheners from past Loot Crates but he’ll use it eventually. I secretly wished that he would give it to me, because I would totally hang that in my car! 😉
Zelda wristband: He likes Zelda, but sweatbands are not something he would ever, ever wear. If that’s a fad that’s apparently coming back, it should go die.
Wonder Woman Poster: I thought this was a fun twist on a classic.
Also included was Brawhalla, some sort of downloadable game card. I felt like this month was pretty decent, with the hightlights being the book and (for me) the air freshener. Next month is villains!
Love with Food
Love with Food is a snack box that focuses on organic, good for you snacks. There are several types of boxes that you can order, including the Taster Box, the deluxe box, or a gluten free box. I got the deluxe box, which is $20/month, filled with healthy snacks! This month’s theme was “Surfin’ USA.”
Hawaiian BBQ chips ($1.48 x 2): I’m not normally a huge fan of BBQ flavors, but these were really yummy! They had a very nice flavor to them.
Banana chips ($3.79): These were sweet and salty, a great combo filled with banana flavor!
Glee Gum Pops ($0.47 x 2): Pretty much what you expect them to be, though they say they are healthier than something like a blow pop. A tasty lollipop with gum inside.
Lemon Almond biscotti ($0.72 x 2): Nice lemon flavor, a pleasant little treat.
Coconut Almond curry granola ($1.12 x 2): This was a really interesting combo of flavors – I enjoyed it!
Bare coconut chips ($0.77): I love coconut and these were delicious in a salad one day!
True citrus packets ($0.22 x 12): These are to add flavoring to water, etc. I have a fruit infuser water bottle so I just don’t see the point of these. I’d much rather have the fresh fruit but I guess this could be useful in a pinch.
Organic Seaweed ($0.97): I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried these yet because I’m nervous to eat seaweed haha. I will get around to it though!
Fruit strip ($0.33): The flavor was pretty good, but I’m not a huge fan of fruit strips in general.
Fruit snacks ($0.99 x 2): Tasty fruit snacks that I enjoyed as a little treat!
Overall I felt this was definitely the weakest box I’ve gotten so far. I calculated the value to be $18.06, which is less than what I paid for it. There were some good items in here but others I wasn’t overly impressed with. I’ve signed up for another three months because I really liked the first two months, and after that I’ll re-evaluate.
Princess Surprise Monthly
Created by The Charming Violet on Etsy (who also sells incredible looking Princess wigs, if you need one for a good costume!), this box is themed each month after a different princess. It will contain a variety of different items relating to that princess. This month the princess was Belle, which is perfect since she is my favorite princess! One of the things that I loved about this box is that not everything in it was a Disney product – though there were plenty of those. However, she also included items that weren’t strictly Disney, but related to the character. You can read the full review here!
Stitch Fix assigns you a personal stylist and they pick out 5 items that you can try on in the comfort of your own home – you keep what you like and send back the rest! The review of my July Stitch Fix can be found here. My next box is coming in just a few days!
