I have been so excited to write up this post for awhile and now it’s finally time to share! Etsy seller Vicky, who owns the shop Auntie Vicky’s Closet, makes super cute Disney themed running skirts. She has some available in her shop, but she will also do custom orders to design whatever it is that you want! I contacted her about a skirt and asked if she thought she might be able to do something for Esmeralda, for my Disneyland half marathon costume. What she came up with is incredible!
To begin with, she was awesome throughout the entire process. She kept me updated on her work and made everything exactly how I might want it. She showed me different fabric combinations, asked me about length of skirt, my measurements, etc. She sent sketches of her ideas to make sure I would like it. And honestly, I loved everything that she did.
And when the skirt came it was even better in person! First of all, it perfectly captures the character/costume of Esmeralda. If you are thinking of going as her for a run it won’t get much better than this. The fabric is beautiful, the colors are vibrant, and the coins really add to the look. They are sewn on so that they don’t move around too much while running.
It also fit just right. It has an elastic waist so there’s a little give and take (always useful for those pounds I seem to gain/lose!), and the length is perfect for running. There’s a pocket built in, which holds my phone perfectly.
And because she’s so much of a sweetheart, she also included a bonus item for me – her princess Tiana running headband! I was astounded because I am planning to run as Tiana for one of the Glass Slipper Challenge races in February, but I know I hadn’t mentioned it to Vicky. Turns out she’s been following my blog and saw me mention it. It’s cute, perfect for Tiana, and fits very comfortably. Vicky really is just great to work with. In all honesty, if I’m going to be planning any sort of costume and I need a skirt that I don’t already have, I don’t know that I would go anywhere else but Auntie Vicky’s Closet for it now.
Also be on the lookout because when I run the Disneyland half marathon in less than two months, I will be sporting this skirt and will do a post on my whole costume – and I’m excited about how it will all come together!
And now you can have a chance to win your very own skirt from Vicky! If you win, she will contact you directly to discuss what kind of skirt you would like. She is incredible to work with!
And even if you don’t win or you don’t want to wait, you can use the code DISNEYINYOURDAY in her shop for free shipping on any purchase 🙂 And check her out on social media for other coupon codes! Twitter: @PrincessVicky84, Instagram: @AuntieVickysCloset
