I love getting subscription boxes. If you’re not familiar with the concept, it’s a box around some sort of theme that gets sent to your house on a regular basis (usually once a month) and it’s filled with goodies for that theme. Most of the time the items in the box are a surprise, so it’s a fun way to treat yourself! There are subscription boxes with clothing like Stitch Fix, food (Love with Food), make up (Ipsy), geeky stuff (Loot Crate, Marvel Collector Corp) and almost anything you can think of. I know a lot of people love seeing what is received in these boxes, so each month I’ll share with you what I got from each subscription!
Ipsy is a make-up bag subscription with 5 items per month for $10. You also get a bag every month.
Liptitude Lip Stain ($5.99): It worked well as a lip stain and the color lasted, but it was just way too bright for me.
IT Eyebrow Pencil ($24.00): I get my eyebrows waxed regularly and other than that I don’t touch them – so an eyebrow pencil is just not something that I’ll use.
Photofinish Foundation Primer ($8.00): I just don’t really use primers. I got a couple of others in past bags and only used them once or twice.
Lavanila Body Butter (~$2.50): This is a nice body butter and smells quite good!
Mini shadow crayon ($12.00): I am intrigued by this, but haven’t figured out the best way to apply it. I’ll have to investigate!
The value of this bag was around $52.50. While Ipsy always provides great value, I’ve found that I’m not really using the new stuff because I have plenty of make-up currently. So for now I’ve placed my subscription on hold and will no longer be getting this one.
The theme for this month’s Loot Crate , a subscription box of geeky goods, was Cyber. I will admit here that I knew pretty much nothing about any of the fandoms in this box.
Terminator skull: My friend, who gets this box, has never seen terminator and has no interest in it. So while others might find it cool it’s not for him.
Terminator keychain: See above. Second Terminator item in the box.
Prime shirt: This shirt is very cool looking, and super soft.
Borderlands Mouse Pad: This is a bit large to be a mouse pad but too small to be used for much else, according to my friend. Not sure what this will be used for.
Battlestar Galactica posters: Another show that neither of us have watched.
Circuit board pouch: this is kinda neat looking, and something useful.
Patch from Blade Runner: My friend has never seen this movie but it’s my husband’s favorite. Even so, he’s not sure what he would do with a patch.
Nerd HQ stickers: Show your nerd pride with these stickers.
Unfortunately for us this crate was pretty much a bust due to the theme, since neither of us were fans. I guess that will happen sometimes. My friend is actually thinking about cancelling Loot Crate though because he loves his Marvel boxes so much!
Love with Food
Love with Food is a snack box that focuses on organic, good for you boxes. There are several types of boxes that you can order, including the Taster Box, the deluxe box, or a gluten free box. I got the deluxe box, which is $20/month, filled with healthy snacks! This month’s theme was “Picnic in the Park.”
Brownie Brittle ($0.95): This was good, but really chocolatey. Almost too much so for me, and I like chocolate!
Classic Iced Tea Candy ($0.10 x 4): These were really different and delicious! I loved the iced tea natural flavors.
Savory Bar ($1.83 x 2): A light, crunchy bar that tastes just like an everything bagel. I love those flavors!
Green Superfood Almond Bar ($3.00): A good tasting bar, if typical of other similar type bars – it didn’t really stand out to me from others I’ve tried. And pricey compared to something like a KIND bar.
Emily’s Trail Mix ($1.46 x2): Loved that it was a lower calorie trail mix, and very tasty too!
Rosemary Croccantini crackers ($1.01 x 2): These were nice subtle rosemary crackers. I paired them with the bruschetta in the box and it was great!
Dipin Roasted pepper and artichoke bruschetta ($1.84): Loved this. It was full of flavor and a great snack size at only 30 calories.
Honey Stinger Lemon Waffle ($1.82 x2): This was sweet and chewy and just a really great snack.
Cosmos puffed corn ($2.50? x 2): I had both the coconut and the caramel. They were delicious – almost too good, very addicting! A sweet treat.
Ips Chips ($1.79): I got the barbeque flavor and I don’t like barbeque so I passed them on to my husband. He didn’t care for them either.
Crazy hot pop chips ($1.00): “Crazy hot” is just not for me.
Overall I was really pleased with most of the items in this box, the chips aside. I calculated the value to be $26.22 which is good, and I found a couple of items I may look into purchasing!
Marvel Collector Corp
For those of you who are fans of Marvel, I have a feeling you’re going to love this new box: The Marvel Collector Corps. They send out every other month and are $25 per box. Each box has a different theme, and this one was Ant-Man My friend who gets Loot Crate has subscribed to this box as well. You can check out my June review of the Ant-Man box here.
Mickey Monthly is a subscription box that sends Disney stuff!
They offer a couple of different options: a snack box, a souvenirs box, or the most popular combo box. This box combines Disney souvenirs with food treats found around the parks. They also have three different sized boxes for each category. Check out my review here.
Stitch Fix assigns you a personal stylist and they pick out 5 items that you can try on in the comfort of your own home – you keep what you like and send back the rest! The review of my May Stitch Fix can be found here. My next box is coming in just a few days!
